Obituary

Adolfo Ortiz Campos, Sr., 98, of Hale Center, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in Plainview, Texas.  Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 11, 2023, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, in Hale Center. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 12, 2023, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, with Fr. Martin Pena officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 11, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center.

Adolfo was born May 22, 1925, in San Gabriel, Texas, to Felix and Jesusita (Ortiz) Campos.  On October 14, 1947, he married the love of his life, Matilde Garza and they were married over 75 years. They moved to Hale Center in 1977 from Logan, Utah and he was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church. A welder and farmer, Adolfo retired at the age of 85.  In his younger years, Adolfo broke horses and always had a big vegetable garden.  He was the watermelon and cantaloupe king and once grew the largest watermelon in Hale County.  He loved to sing and dance and was a master storyteller.  Always happy and smiling, Adolfo enjoyed being with his family and especially loved his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Maria Asucena "Susie" Quintero, a granddaughter, Aurelia Lynn Clark, and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Matilde Campos of Hale Center, five sons, Juan Manuel Campos (Linda) of Sioux Falls, SD, Felix G. Campos (Shaylee) of Ft. Bridger, WY, Pedro Luis Campos (Yolanda Barrera) of Smithfield, UT, Adolfo Campos, Jr (Tammy) of Logan, UT, Elfego Fred Campos (Dorian Owen) of Hale Center, six daughters, Elvira Campos-Lozoya (Baldomero Soliz) of Lubbock, Carolina Campos Ramirez (Felipe) of Anson, Aurelia Worley (Hector Salas) of Hale Center, Guadalupe Hardman (Craig) of Logan, UT, Paula Basaldua (Jesse) of Plainview, and Patricia Ann Isaguirre (Luther) of Hale Center, one brother, Jose Maria Campos (Julia) of Bartlett, three sisters, Margarita Soliz of Temple, Lille Castro of Bartlett, and Celia Lopez of Bartlett, a brother-in-law, Cruz Garza of Amarillo and a sister-in-law, Maria Elena Flores of California. He was blessed with 66 grandchildren, 133 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Traditions Hospice and Plainview Healthcare for the loving care given to Adolfo.
