Obituary

Aida R. Saldivar was born March 23, 1933, in Presidio, Texas to Apolonio Rodriguez and Maria (Soza) Rodriguez. She attended schools in Presidio, Texas. In 1952, her mother, and brother, Rodolfo Rodriguez, and younger sister, Carmen Rodriguez moved to Olton, Texas and this is where she met Ralph G. Saldivar. They were married on January 9, 1954, and decided to make Olton their home. They were blessed with four children, Sylvia, Ruben, Rene, and Brenda. In 1976, Ralph died and Aida began her journey of raising four children as a single mother. She was active in her children's education, she enjoyed working at the voting polls during election years. She was an active member of the Olton Homemaker's Club, and she was involved in the activities at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton and was a devout Catholic. In 1982, she decided to enroll in college and graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education with an emphasis on Pre-K ESL education. Aida worked at H.P. Webb elementary in Olton upon graduating from WBU and eventually opened her own daycare center. Within a few years, she accepted a teaching position in Garland ISD as a Pre-K ESL teacher to be near her children and grandchildren. Aida loved teaching and poured her heart and soul into the education of young children. She always held her daycare and elementary children close to her heart. She retired in 2003 from Garland ISD with several teaching accolades and always the love for teaching.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Richardson, Tx. Aida was active in the Women's Guild, and she enjoyed travelling with her church friends. Her travels took her on an Alaskan cruise, a Panama Canal/Costa Rica cruise and to the Caribbean. She also travelled to Mexico City where she visited the cathedrals and the pyramids. Aida's priorities were God and Family and in that order. Later, she moved to Allen, Tx and became a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church. When she was around her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, her world lit up with joy and happiness.

Her memory will be cherished by her four children: Sylvia (Saldivar) Palacios (spouse-Tom), Ruben Saldivar (spouse-Debbie), Rene Saldivar (spouse-Gloria), and Brenda (Saldivar) Garcia (spouse-Hector).
