Obituary
Amelia M. Valdez, 77, of Olton, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, in Olton. Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 6, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 7, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Pina officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Valdez was born January 12, 1936, in Valle Florido, Durango, Mexico to Felipe and Tomasita Carrillo Mendoza. She married Fortunato Valdez on January 20, 1955. She moved to Olton in 1975 and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Amelia was a member of the Guadalupanas and the Cruscillistas. She enjoyed knitting, embroidery, and loved to cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, and a grandson.
Survivors include her husband, Fortunato Valdez of Olton, one son, Jesse Valdez of Olton, six daughters, Olga Valdez of Lubbock, Terri Sandoval, Yolanda Flores, Leticia Falcon, Dolores Russell, and Dora Flores, all of Olton, and one sister, Teresa Mendoza of San Jose, CA. She was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
