Obituary

John Amos Walden, 87, of Lubbock and formerly of Olton, died Friday, July 21, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. No services are scheduled at this time.

Born December 17, 1935, in Olton, Texas, Amos was the son of Ernest and Alpha (Edgin) Walden.  He graduated from Olton High School in 1953. Amos served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1964.  He married Mary Marcelle "Sandie" Loveless and was a farmer in Olton until 1991.  He was a great farmer that hated weeds with a passion.  He was a firm believer in and always said, "If you're going to do something, do it right the first time." Making an honest living and working hard at it was how he lived.

Amos was active in 4-H, FFA, and stock shows where he earned the nickname, "Famous Amos". He loved fishing and spending time in the Colorado mountains. Amos also enjoyed watching sports, especially Nascar.

Amos was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Alpha Walden and a brother, Bill Walden.

Survivors include his sons, Larry E. Walden of Lubbock, Bobby L. Walden of Austin, grandson, Ashton L. Walden of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two brothers, Paul Walden of Olton and Travis Walden of Waco and numerous nieces and nephews.
