Anne Burkhalter, 85, of Olton, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, in Aurora, Colorado. Services will be at 1:30 P.M., Monday, January 7, 2013, at the Main Street Church of Christ with Rex Boyles and Brad Wangerin officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Annie Ruth Burkhalter was born August 24, 1927, in Seymour, TX to James and Dora Ewart Gordon. She married Jack Burkhalter on August 14, 1946 in Ft. Worth and they were married for 66 years. She moved to Olton in 1962 from Colorado City, TX and was a member of Main Street Church of Christ. Anne graduated from Texas Tech University and taught school in the Olton and Hart school districts from 1962 to 1989. She loved to paint, fish, and travel. While traveling, she and Jack attended two world fairs. Family time was important to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and a sister.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Burkhalter of Olton, her son, Jackie Burkhalter and his wife, Valda of Lubbock, two daughters, Judy Walker of Austin and Jan Tice and her husband, Perry of Aurora, CO, three sisters, Erma Walsh of Lubbock, Geraldine Childers of Ft. Worth, and Betty Weeden of Grand Praire. She was blessed with seven granddaughters, Kellie, Shannon, Joy, Ashley, Lacy, Lindy, Lesly, and nine great-grandchildren.
