Aurora Medrano, 78, of Olton and formerly of New Orleans, Louisiana, died Monday, December 6, 2021, in Olton, Texas. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 2021, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2021, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Jeremy Trull officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 12, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.
Aurora was born July 11, 1943, in Karnes County, Texas, to Serbando and Josefa (Zamora) Casares. She married Anastacio Medrano in July of 1960. Aurora was a carpet layer for many years before retiring in 1990. Moving to Olton in 2005 from New Orleans, Aurora was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching old western movies and she loved Elvis Presley. She also enjoyed sewing and watching the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints.
Aurora was preceded in death by her husband, Anastacio Medrano, in 2000, her sister, Eloisa Mendoza, a granddaughter, Veronica Medrano, and a grandson, Karone Webb, Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Eddie Medrano and his wife Barbara of Picayune, MS, Gilbert Medrano and his wife Lucretia of New Orleans, and Sammy Medrano and his wife Adyell of New Orleans, one daughter, Elizabeth Logan and her husband George of Chalmette, LA, seven brothers, Robert Casares, Johnny Casares and his wife Linda, Luis Casares and his wife Norma, Mike Casares and his wife Juliette, all of Olton, Raymond Casares of Littlefield, Jerry Casares of Dimmitt, and Serbando Casares, Jr. of Plainview, six sisters, Amelia Luera of Olton, Rosemary Gonzales and her husband Pete and Sandy Casares, both of Garland, Cindy Taylor and her husband Michael of Rowlett, Elena Ruiz of San Antonio, and Maria Sauceda of Plainview, and her best friend, Stella Bouie of New Orleans. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
