Barbara Dean Drake Tollett, 95, of Olton, died Sunday, October 25, 2015, in Olton. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Olton with Tom Carter and Tom Drake officiating. Interment will be at 4:00 P.M. M.S.T. at Portales Cemetery in Portales, N.M. under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 27, 2015.

Barbara was born December 22, 1919, in Purmela, Texas to Clarence and Daisy (Bloodworth) Drake. On August 18, 1940, she married James Thurston Tollett in Portales, N.M. Together they moved to Olton in 1946 to farm. Barbara loved living out on the farm and taking care of all of God's creatures. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Olton for 68 years. At the church, she taught Sunday school for over 30 years and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. Graduating from Texas Tech in 1967, Barbara was a teacher for Olton I.S.D. for over 24 years. Volunteering at the Runningwater Draw Care Center, reading, traveling, and gardening were a few of the things Barbara enjoyed. A very family-centered person, Barbara considered everyone family and was generous towards anyone in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thurston Tollett on December 16, 1986, a son, Jimmy Tollett in 2014, two brothers and two sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Art Tollett and his wife, Barbara of Fritch, a daughter, Bobbye Dennis and her husband, Ronnie of Olton, and a sister, Claryce Richardson and her husband, Carl of Portales, N.M. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
