Betty Jayne Carroll Castle, 74, lifetime resident of Hale Center, died Thursday, October 19, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Hale Center First Methodist Church, with Brother Rob Lindley officiating.  Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. Betty Jayne was born September 6, 1949, in Haskell, Texas, to James and Dovie (Harrell) Carroll. A 1968 graduate of Hale Center High School, she went on to attend Life Pacific Bible College in Los Angeles, CA. She earned two degrees, one in Bible and one in Music.  Betty Jayne returned to Hale Center and in the mid-70's began her career teaching piano.  Over the years, she blessed and was blessed by her many piano students. A master musician and storyteller, Betty Jayne used the piano as her ministry and she brought many people to Christ throughout her life.  Betty Jayne served as the pianist at the First Methodist Church in Hale Center and also currently served as the music director at the First Christian Church in Plainview.  She was a substitute teacher in Hale Center during the 80's and 90's and was a marketer for A.C. Uniforms from 1992 until 2022.

Filled with the Holy Spirit, Betty Jayne's life was music and church.  Her toys were the piano and the Bible and she always made a point to spread God's love to strangers and friends alike. She touched countless lives with her friendship, her musical talents, and her love for Christ and she will be dearly missed.

Preceded in death by her parents, Betty Jayne was survived by her sons, Stephen James "Jimmy" Castle of Hale Center and Joey Castle and his wife Callie of Muleshoe.  She was blessed with seven grandchildren: James Andrew Castle, Josiah Castle, Zechariah Smith, Selah Smith, Ellah Smith, Jaclyn delaRosa, and Maria Amanda delaRosa.

The family suggests everyone bless a stranger and pay it forward every chance they get.
