Betty Jean Motley, 80, of Olton, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, in Lubbock. Services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Olton with Brother Larry Holder officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Betty was born August 16, 1931 in Hale County, near Petersburg, to John and Dora Thompson. She moved to Olton in 1970 from Plainview and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. On December 15, 1970, she married Weldon Motley in Petersburg. He preceded her in death in 2002. She taught Sunday School for many years and was lovingly known as Grandmother by many.

Survivors include four sons, Lacie Kirk and his wife, Donna of Lubbock, Larry Kirk and his wife, Nancy of Levelland, Kevin Kirk of Olton, and Gary Motley and his wife, Charlotte of Olton, two daughters, Donna Poston and her husband, Rex of Lubbock, and Gayle Quigley and her husband, Darryl of Olton, one brother, J.C. Thompson and his wife, Ruby of Petersburg, and one sister, Lucille Oden of Earth. She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren and six and a half great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, April 16, 2012.
