Bill Malone, 89, of Olton, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, in Lubbock. No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton.
Born Billy Eugene Malone on May 5, 1927, in Marlow, Oklahoma, Bill was raised in and graduated from Olton High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, who constructed military bases and paved roadways and airstrips in foreign military theaters. According to Bill, he was raised in Olton before wandering in the wilderness for 40 years before finding his way back to Olton twenty-five years ago. In December of 2007, he married Janie Greenlee in Lamesa. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed visiting at the coffee shop. Family was important to Bill and he was very fond of all his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Malone of Olton, his son, Donnie Malone and his wife, Susan of Flower Mound, TX, two daughters, Shirley Harrold and her husband, Steve of Amarillo and Judy White and her husband, Trandel of Mesquite, TX. He was blessed with two grandchildren, Brandon White and Mandy Garcia and her husband, Joe, three great-grandchildren, Christina, Jose, and Joseph, and four great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Westyn, Kaston, and Neveah.
