Billy Lee Carson, 67, of Trent, formerly of Olton, passed away December 4, 2012 with his family by his side in Abilene, Texas.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, December 7th, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Olton, Texas with Mr. Mark Welch officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th, 2012.
Billy was born September 17, 1945 in Lubbock, Texas to Raymon and Lena Carson. Billy was raised in Olton and was a longtime resident.
He graduated from Olton High School in 1964 and attended college at Oklahoma State University where he played football for one season. He also attended Texas Tech University and played football at Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa.
He married Emma Louise Downey on July 19, 1968 and they were married until 1989. They made their home in Olton, Texas and had two daughters, Rachel and Courtney.
Billy farmed for many years. He loved to dance, play dominoes, and loved stock shows. His great joys were his daughters and his grandchildren. Billy could find fun in almost every situation.
He was a member of the Community of Christ Church and he loved the Lord with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Raymon Carson in 2008, his mother, Lena Lee Daugherty Carson in 1989, his brother John Raymon Carson, Jr. in 1994, and a beloved niece Christy Carson Pooch in 1995.
He is survived by his brother, James Dale Carson and wife Ann of Weeping Water, Nebraska, his daughter Courtney Leigh Carson of Austin, Texas, his daughter Rachel Carson Byers and husband Alan Byers of Merkel, Texas, four grandchildren, Lane Byers, Peyton Shipp, Mason Shipp, and Jake Byers, his uncle, Harold Dean Carson of Olton and many nephews, nieces, several great-nieces and nephews, and many special cousins.
