Blas H. Alvarez, 87, of Seminole, died Wednesday, August 28, 2019, in Lubbock.  Rosary will be said at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 30, 2019, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton.  Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 30, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Jacob Powell officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Blas was born February 3, 1932, in Kenedy, Texas, to Magdaleno and Maria (Herrera) Alvarez.  He married Petra Gonzales on November 13, 1956, in Dickens County and was a farmer.  In 1995, he moved to Seminole from Levelland and was a member of St. James Catholic Church.  Blas was very active in the church and volunteered every opportunity he could.  A member of Sagrado Corazon, Blas was a great friend, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Petra, in 2010.

Survivors include three sons, Bruno Alvarez of Seminole, Frank Alvarez of Hobbs, N.M., and Richard Alvarez of Lubbock, and his daughter, Blanca Estella Alvarez of Santa Rosa, N.M.  He was blessed with four grandchildren.
