Burl Don Mandrell died Friday, October 17, 2008 in Chickasha, Okalahoma. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, October 24, 2008 at Olton Cemetery with Brother Glenn Harlin officiating.

Burl Don Mandrell was born November 11, 1944 in Hobart, Oklahoma. He grew up in Olton before moving to Guymon, OK. He married Carol Carver in Cordell, OK on February 5, 1981. He moved to Divide, CO where he owned a 4X4 shop. He moved to Olton in 1994 and farmed until his retirement.

Burl Don was known by his love for his wife, Carol, the enjoyment he received building and restoring old vehicles with his son, Jamie, and his joking demeanor.

Burl and Jamie passed away together, sharing the hobby they loved, buying car parts at the Antique Auto Club Swap Meet in Chickasha, OK.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Olton; step mother, Anna Lee Mandrell of Cordell, OK; daughter, Diane Mandrell; step daughter, Michelle Long and her husband, Christopher of Fountain, CO; daughter in law, Becky Mandrell of Guymon, OK; two brothers, DeVern Mandrell and his wife, Anita of Olton, and Dennis Mandrell of Ridgecrest, CA; sister, Darlene Stevens and her husband, Truman of Crane, MO; step-sister, LaRue Derbin of Derby, KS; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jamie, his parents, Frank and Marie Mandrell, and a step-sister, Loretta.
