Obituary

Carl H. McClure, 83, of Canyon and formerly of Olton, died Thursday, November 27, 2014, in Olton. Services will be 3:00 P.M., Sunday, November 30, at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Mr. McClure was born January 23, 1931, to Herman and Clara (Newton) McClure in Kiowa County, Oklahoma. He moved to Olton in 1955 and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church. He married Helen J. Oursbourn on August 5, 1956 in Canyon. Carl worked at Olton ISD for 43 years as a teacher, coach, Jr. High principal, High School principal, and counselor before retiring in 1998. His passion was kids and helping them grow into productive adults. An Olton Mustang fan for life, he especially enjoyed baseball, serving in all aspects for the Olton Baseball Association. Carl was a member of the Olton Lions Club, past president of the Olton Chamber of Commerce, and loved playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Truman McClure.

Survivors include his wife, Helen McClure of Canyon, two sons: Chris McClure and his wife, Missy of Sulphur Springs and Caleb McClure and his wife, Kim of Amarillo, his daughter, Carla Borden and her husband, Brad of Amarillo, three brothers: Major McClure of Tahlequah, OK and Rex McClure of Edmond, OK, and Dweight McClure of Hindsville, Arkansas, and two sisters: Marlene Henins of Los Alamos, N.M. and Carol Hammer of Nashville, TN. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Cimarron Ainsworth and her husband, Aaron, Cache McClure, Xander McClure, Ashley Borden and Brynn Borden and four great-grandchildren: Emma, Eli, Millie, and Waylon.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Saturday, November 29, 2014.
