Carmaleta Faye was born December 8, 1933, in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, to John William and Linnie (Lyon) Campbell.  She graduated from Olton High School in 1950.  She earned her bachelor's degree from West Texas State College, and later earned her master's degree from West Texas University.  On May 21, 1955, Carmaleta married Dennison J. "Denny" Barnett.  A teacher for over 50 years, Carmaleta served school districts in Springlake-Earth, Littlefield, Olton, Midland, and Lubbock. She enjoyed needle point and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Getting to attend "Camp Mimi" was fun for the grandchildren as they got to spend a whole week with her one on one.  A very special lady, Carmaleta made many lifelong friends over the years and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Denny Barnett, in 1978, a sister, Eleanor Sudduth, and a grandson, Shane Barnett, in 2015.

Survivors include her son, Bart Barnett and wife Patricia of Olton and three daughters, Kim Britton and husband Pat of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Lori Craig and husband Mark of Arlington, and Stacy Glenn and husband Ross of Canyon. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Billy Barnett and wife Kristin, Brian Britton, Julie Britton and husband Caleb Snyder, Trey Glenn and wife Katie, Will Craig, Trevor Glenn and wife Bethany, and Taryn Glenn and four great-grandchildren: Landri, Ford, Charlotte, and Mia.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Shane Barnett Memorial Scholarship at Opportunity Plan P.O. Box 1035 Canyon, Texas 79015 or the First Baptist Church P.O. Box 408 Olton, Texas 79064.
