Charles Ratliff passed from this life Friday, January 31, 2020. Charles was born February 8, 1934 to Arthur Ratliff and Mildred Small Ratliff in Birthright, Hopkins County, Texas. He married Martha Woodruff on February 1, 1956. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and had a 20 year Military career. He was stationed in Tulle Greenland early in his career and spent 15 months in Taiwan. Charles was also stationed at Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach, Florida before returning to Texas to complete his service.
After retiring from the Air Force, Charles moved his family back to Olton where he was raised and worked for himself as a plumber. He also worked for Energas and Thompson Chevrolet until he retired.
Charles loved to fish and briefly lived at Breckenridge at Hubbard Creek Lake where he enjoyed getting to fish as often as he could. He loved working in his yard, whether it be weeding, watering, or mowing to keep a beautifully manicured yard.
He is preceded in death by parents Arthur Ratliff and Mildred Small Smith and a brother Johnny (Dub) Ratliff. He is survived by one son Charlie Ratliff Jr, and wife Sherry of Woodward, OK, one daughter, Sharon Taylor and husband Bryan of Lake Brownwood, TX, one sister Elizabeth Clark of Irving, TX., grandsons Josh Taylor of Seminole, TX and Jason Colpetzer and wife Monica of Hardesty, OK., great grandsons Conner Taylor, Michael Colpetzer, granddaughter Natasha Eidson and husband Jason and one great great grandson Cooper, grand daughter Charlsy Law and husband Matt of Beaver, OK, great grandchildren, Bronk, Reata, and Stout, and grand daughter Lacie Mendez and husband Beto of Amarillo, and great granddaughter McKenzie.
Charles donated his body to the Willed Body Program at Texas Tech University. A memorial will be held at First Baptist Church Fellowship hall in Olton on Saturday February 15 th at 10:00AM
