Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Shipley, 86, of Graham and formerly of Olton, died Monday, March 8, 2021, in Graham, Texas.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Olton Cemetery in Olton, Texas, with his nephew, Mr. Charles "Butch" Flatt, officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.  A come and go visitation will be held from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.

Charles was born September 21, 1934, in Jim Town, Oklahoma, to William James and Exle (Miller) Shipley.  Charles married Murdell Lawrence Copeland in July of 1954 and they had two children.  He then married Maenette Dennis on June 6, 1985 and he gained two bonus children.  Charles owned and operated the Olton Trade Lot from 1956 to 1970 and then farmed until his retirement in 1999.  He enjoyed water skiing and fishing.  In 2006, Charlie moved to Graham, Texas and Possum Kingdom Lake became his home.  A talented woodworker, Charlie also enjoyed old western movies especially ones starring John Wayne.  A loving husband, father, grandfather, "Snoopy", and friend, Charles will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Mack Shipley, in 2011, two brothers, Cleo Shipley and Roscoe Shipley, and two sisters, Margaret Flatt and Wanda Jo King.

Survivors include his wife, Maenette Shipley of Graham, and his daughters, Charla Shipley of Graham, Dana Paraskevas and her husband, Bobby of Watauga, and Denise Hasha and her husband Steve of Olton.  He was blessed with five grandchildren: Brady Scoggin of Hallsville, Shanna Tims of Trophy Club, Kristin McKay and her husband Evan of Euless, Brooke Paraskevas of North Richland Hills, and Brittnee Parkey and her husband Josh of Olton, 10 great-grandchildren: Zane, Noelan, Maddox, Rhett, Vivienne, Tyler, Peter, Roper, Payge, and Macee and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to Rathgeber Hospitality House 1615 12th St. Wichita Falls, Texas 76301 or a favorite charity.
