Christina Vaquera Gonzales, 40, of Hale Center, Texas, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Hale Center. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 2026, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church with Fr. Alex Ambrose officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center.
Christina was born June 13, 1985, in Plainview, Texas, to Manuel and Gloria (Mata) Vaquera. She graduated from Hale Center High School in 2003. On August 22, 2003, she married Michael Gonzales, and together they built a life centered around faith and family. She was a devoted member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.
Christina worked for over 12 years with Covenant Medical Group and most recently served as a patient service specialist and certified interpreter at Covenant Family Medical Clinic in Plainview. She was honored as Covenant Employee of the Year in 2018 and received the Covenant Values in Action Award. These honors reflected the genuine care, compassion, and dedication she showed to her patients, always taking the time to help others feel heard, understood, and cared for.
Christina loved music and singing, and she was often the family’s DJ, making sure every gathering had just the right songs playing. She enjoyed caring for her plants, spending time with her animals, and especially valued her sister nights. She also had a fondness for colorful things, including Trolls and items from Lisa Frank. She was known for her contagious laugh, which brought joy to those around her and reflected her warm and spirited personality. Above all, she cherished her husband, children, and family.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Manuel Vaquera, Sr. and Maria Trinidad Vitela, and her maternal grandmother, Josefina Mata.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Gonzales of Hale Center; her son, Orion Michael Gonzales of Hale Center; her daughters, Madisol Trinidad Gonzales and Niyeli Rose Gonzales, both of Hale Center; her parents, Manuel and Gloria Vaquera of Hale Center; her brother, Luis Fernando Vaquera of Lubbock; and her sisters, Rita Vaquera of Lubbock, Jessica Arguello of Big Spring, Claudia Gonzales of Hale Center, and Laura Vasquez of Stanton.
Christina will be remembered for her love of family, her caring nature, and the many memories she created with those she loved.
