Obituary
We wish to celebrate the life of Claira Ruth Cowart, 82, of Olton, who passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Olton with David Azam and Byron Potter officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Claira was born October 28, 1928 in Plainview to Athol and Ruby Jones Light. On October 19, 1947, she married James Cowart in Olton. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church. She worked in the children's department of the church for 60 years. A lifetime supporter and follower of her family, Claira was a loving wife, mother, and faithful Christian servant.
She was preceded in death by a brother, A.C. Light, Jr. in 2005.
Survivors include her husband, James Cowart of Olton, a son, Barry Cowart and his wife, JoEllen of Muleshoe, two daughters, Barbara Turner and her husband, Bobby of Olton, and Melanie Hoskins and her husband, Ken of Olton, a brother, Floyd Light and his wife, Jo of Olton, and a sister, Mattie Hodges of Olton. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Runningwater Draw Care Center P.O. Box 409 Olton, TX 79064.
