Curtis was born March 28, 1931, in Henderson County, Texas, to R.G. and Lucille (Cranford) Parker. Curtis served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War. After the army, he spent most of his life farming in the Muleshoe, Hub, and Lazbuddie areas. Farming was an important part of his life and brought him many lasting friendships. In later years, Curtis drove combines and other farm equipment, worked for area farmers, and also worked at Blackwater.

Curtis taught himself many skills throughout his life. He could repair vehicles, engines, irrigation pumps, and farm equipment, developing a knowledge of mechanics and machinery that served him well over the years. He was a hardworking, honest, and private man who was loyal to his family and friends. Curtis enjoyed the familiar routines of country life. He liked attending farm sales, keeping up with farming and farmers, and visiting with neighbors and friends. He was a regular at the local round table at Treider’s Electric, where he enjoyed good conversation and a diet Coke. He also enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and knew many of the episodes well.

Curtis is survived by his daughters, Deborah Harr and Cheriee Young, both of Lubbock; and his sisters, Peggy Conner of Springlake and Kathleen Sullivan of Chandler, Texas. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.G. and Lucille Parker; his wife, Lorraine Parker; two children, Lily and Allen; one brother; and three sisters.
