Obituary

C.W. "Dub" Leathers, 95, of Olton, died Thursday, August 8, 2024, in Olton, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2024, at Main Street Church of Christ in Olton with Evangelist Dallas Carrasco and Evangelist Neal Schofield officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Ramage Funeral Directors, in Olton.

Dub was born March 2, 1929, in Hollis, Oklahoma, to W.H. and Era (Crawley) Leathers.  The family moved to the Olton area and Dub attended school in Springlake and Olton, graduating from Olton High School in 1946. On December 9, 1950, Dub married Frances Rainer in Plainview. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, from 1952 to 1956, and then returned home to farm.  A farmer for over 50 years, Dub served on the Olton Coop Gin board of directors. He and Frances enjoyed square-dancing and were members of the Belle's and Beau's Square Dance Club. They also enjoyed traveling and spending time in Ruidoso, N.M. A member of Main Street Church of Christ, Dub was also a member of Masonic Lodge #1247 in Olton and was a 72 year Mason.

Dub had a gentle and kind-hearted soul.  He was as ornery as they come and loved to tease and pick-on those he loved.  Dub's whole world was his family and he always ended his phone conversations with "Love you, Love you, Love you". His gentle spirit, kind-heart, and ornery personality will be missed by all who knew him.

Dub was preceded in death by his parents, W.H. and Era Leathers and his wife, Frances Leathers.

Survivors include his son, David Leathers and wife Linda of Olton and his daughters, Brenda Cambron and husband Dave of Lubbock and Barbara Hart and husband Danny of Tahoka.  He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to Sandhills Village PO Box 767 Olton, Texas 79064 or the Olton Cemetery Association PO Box 1055 Olton, Texas 79064.

A special thank you to Martha,  Janie, and Diane and the rest of the staff and residents for the love and care that you gave to him at the Sandhills Village. He loved you all and always spoke highly of you.
