Dan Dee Quigley was born August 29, 1934, in Geary, Oklahoma, to Ben and Sophia (Leck) Quigley. He graduated high school at Hinton, Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma State University where he earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering. It was at Oklahoma State University that he met the love of his life, Helen Brown. Dan and Helen were married May 6,1956 and they were married over 67 years. They made their home west of Olton and Dan started farming. He was heavily involved in the farming community and he served on the Olton Grain Coop and the Farmland Industries boards of directors. A longtime member of the Olton Methodist Church, Dan was also a member of the Springlake Lions Club. He was involved coaching pee-wee and little league baseball, was an avid fisherman, and absolutely loved watching and discussing any and all sports, especially Oklahoma State and the Houston Astros. Dan was a prolific book reader and his favorite book was the Bible. Family was his passion and he was always looking for opportunities to encourage, gather together, share stories, attend activities, and visibly demonstrate his love for them. More than anything else, Dan loved the Lord God and spoke often of his confidence in spending eternity in the presence of Jesus. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Dan will be missed by all.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Sophia Quigley, a brother, Robert Quigley and a sister, Marybell DeSpain.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Quigley of Olton, a son, Darryl Quigley and his wife Gayle of Olton and three daughters, Sharon Hobbs of Olton, Donice Johnson and husband Steve of Olton, and Judy McPherson and husband Craig of Flower Mound. He was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association PO Box 1087 Olton, Texas 79064 or the Olton Methodist Church PO Box 1081 Olton, Texas 79064.
