IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Fay
Holt
March 2, 1931 – May 25, 2024
Dorothy Fay Ivins Holt, 93, of Olton, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, May 25, 2024, at Running Water Draw Care Center in Olton, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Olton Cemetery, with her son, Todd Holt, officiating and under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Dorothy's life began on March 2, 1931, in the small community of Saint Jo, Texas, just south of the Oklahoma border. Born to John Washington Ivins and Sarah Gertrude Ivins, she was the youngest of five children. Times were hard for families during the Great Depression, but Dorothy's father worked hard at the jobs available and made sure his family was fed, housed, and well loved. At some point during the 30's, the Ivins family made their way to Olton, Texas, where Dorothy's dad took up farming and made Olton their lifelong home. Dorothy began her schooling in Olton and graduated from Olton High School in 1949. Shortly thereafter, she married her high school sweetheart, Dacosta Morton Holt, fondly known as Bub. Bub and Dorothy had four children: Pam, Steve, Todd, and Jennifer and a beautiful 38 years of marriage
Dorothy was her happiest when caring for her family and attending church. She was a permanent member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Olton and lived her faith diligently and wholeheartedly. Dorothy volunteered frequently to help others including delivering meals, baking cookies for the care center and driving those who needed transportation. Dorothy worked a number of odd jobs to help out her family but one of her favorite jobs was working side by side with her husband selling their homemade smoked brisket sandwiches out of a tiny trailer at auctions and miscellaneous events. Dorothy was a woman with a heart for service and she loved helping and ministering to others. Loving others brought her sheer joy.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, her husband, all her siblings, and her eldest child, Pam Holt Mannin.
She leaves behind her children, Steve Holt of Cleburne, Todd Holt and wife Sharon of Austin, and Jennifer Holt Daugherty and husband Ted of Olton. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Jeff Hall and wife Tracy, Victoria Summer Abadie and husband Aaron, Mindie Holt and husband Tony, Josh Holt, Johnathan Holt, Sarah Holt, Calvin Daugherty and wife Leslie, and Cody Daugherty and wife Rachel, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy Holt was the precious matriarch of the Holt family. She loved fiercely and was fiercely loved.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Runningwater Draw Care Center PO Box 409 Olton, Texas 79064 or the Olton Cemetery Association PO Box 1055 Olton, Texas 79064.
