Our beloved mom and grandma, Dot Parish (Dorothy Nell Dobbs Parish), of Benbrook and formerly of Earth, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 14, 2020, in Fort Worth. Graveside services will be held Friday, December 18, 2020, at 11:00, Earth Cemetery, in Earth, Texas, with Brother Rob Norris officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Dot had hoped to make it to the rapture of the saints; but as she neared her 93 rd birthday, she was ready to go be with Jesus and her husband KB.
Dot was born January 18, 1928 in Wellington, TX to Roy W. and Nellie Jane Payne Dobbs. The Dobbs family moved to Olton, TX in the early 1930s, where Dot was a 1945 graduate of Olton High School and, later, a graduate of her cherished Texas Tech University. Dorothy married Kenneth Bain (KB) Parish in 1947, and they lived in Springlake, TX, and farmed in the Springlake-Earth area for 40 years, before retiring to Lubbock and eventually moving in their final years to the Fort Worth area.
In the 1950s, KB and Dot started their family and were charter members of the Springlake First Baptist Church, and for a time, she was active in the Earth Eastern Star community service organization and was a past matron of that chapter. In their retirement years, they were active members of Southcrest Baptist Church and enjoyed many great friendships in SW Lubbock. Dot was also a member of the New Neighbors Club, and she enjoyed playing bridge, dominos and was up for any other card games with many friends all through her life.
She loved being GrammaDot to her beloved grandchildren and, eventually her great grands --- such was her devotion that she even made the trek down to Austin to be there in person for the birth of her first great-grandchild when she was 85 years old. Dot loved to read, whether the Bible or historical fiction. She was a life-long student of art, history, Spanish language, and sports. She rarely missed watching a Cowboys or Red Raiders football game, as she had fond memories of watching those games with her own dad, Papa Roy Dobbs. Dot and KB enjoyed traveling and going on adventures in search of "treasures" for adorning their home, as Dot always had an eye for decorating houses, including those of her grandkids. Always the tasteful shopper, for a couple years, she even owned her own children's clothing store in central Lubbock — "Lil Folks." She was always a generous and thoughtful giver.
Dot is predeceased by her parents, infant son Kenneth Brian, her brother, Roy Dobbs Jr., husband KB, and infant great-granddaughter Emma Parish.
Dot is survived by two loving sons: Dan (Betty) Parish of Earth; and Sam (Vicki) Parish of Benbrook. Grandchildren: Russell (Kelly) Parish of Austin, Megan (Joel) Moore of Celina, and Dana Parish of Dallas; and Jamie Parish of Nevada, TX, Wesley (Leslie) Parish of Lucus, Ashley (Mike) Leon of Woodbridge, VA, Tiffany (Kyle) Hooper of Corpus Christi, and step grandchild Wendy (Matthew) Allen of Forney, Texas. Great Grandchildren: Caroline and Augusta Belle Parish; Jude and Cade Moore; Caleb and Ryan Parish; Simon and Chloe Leon; and Julie, Natalie, Lauren, and Madelyn Allen.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, are welcomed to Springlake First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 159, Springlake, TX 79082.
