Eduardo Chavez Benavente, 75, of Hart, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, in Lubbock. Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 26, 2014, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hart. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 27 at St. John's Catholic Church with
Fr. Raj "Arockiaraj" Malapady as celebrant. Interment will follow at Hart Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.
Eduardo was born October 13, 1938, in Chihuahua, Mexico to Apollonio and Maria Benavente Chavez. He married Marina Dominguez on October 4, 1965 in Mexico. Working as a farmer, Eduardo was a long time area resident and moved to Hart in 2003. He loved working on vehicles and cooking out at family gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Marina Chavez of Hart, four sons: Rodrigo Chavez, Cruz Chavez, and Omar Chavez, all of Friona, and Jose Chavez of Hart, six daughters: Maria Chavez of Plainview, Griselda Chavez of Friona, Eloisa Rodriguez, Imelda Guevara, Eva Chavez, and Edith Chavez, all of Hart, four brothers: Gilberto Chavez and Baltazar Chavez of Chihuahua, Mexico, Ernesto Chavez of California, and Francisco Chavez of Brownwood, and seven sisters: Enriqueta Saenz, Emilia Rodriguez, Virginia Trejo, Francisca Alviedrez, Delia Dominguez, all of Chihuahua, Mexico, Rosa Tarango of El Paso, and Amalia Sotello of Santa Fe, N.M. He was blessed with 29 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
