Edward Scott 'Scotty' Cannon, son of Sue Cannon, was killed in a pickup train collision on a private railroad crossing, Sept. 9, 2012, near his home in Magnolia, Texas. He was 49 years old.
Scotty was born in the Mid Cities Hospital in between Arlington and Grand Prairie, Texas on August 10, 1963. He was raised in Olton and graduated from Olton High School in 1981. He married Rena Simpson August 17, 1991 in Spring, Texas where he was employed with Compaq Computers of Houston. He owned and operated Desktop-Assistance LTD and was a major contributor to Hewlit Packard industries. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.
Cannon is survived by his wife Rena and their children, Scott Simpson and his wife Cortney; Alyssa Murray and her husband Ben; Hailey, Stephanie, Savannah and Sabrina Cannon. Also survived by grandchildren, Braden, Drake, and Benjamin Murray Jr. who is expected to arrive next month. Likewise, Scott is survived by his mother, Sue Cannon, and sisters, Susan Wiggians and her husband David; Debbie Alcorta and her huband Joe; and brothers, Jim, Guy and Gregg and his wife, Michelle; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Main Street Church of Christ in Olton with Rex Boyles officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
A memorial service is also set for Saturday, Sept. 15th at 1:00 p.m. for Houston area family and friends at the Woodland Oaks Church of Christ located at 7300 Crownridge Drive in The Woodlands.
Visitation will be Friday, September 14, 2012, from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Friday, September 14, 2012.
