Obituary

Edwin "Sherril" Rigsby, 82, of Hale Center, died Thursday, August 10, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas.  Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Hale Center Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Sherril was born September 25, 1940, in Matador, Texas, to Riley Roscoe and Lillie Marie (Keeling) Rigsby.  On September 4, 1960, Sherril married Emma Gravelle in Plainview and they were married over 62 years.  He moved to Hale Center in 1968 and was a lab technician and x-ray technician at Hi-Plains Hospital in Hale Center for 38 years. He was greatly involved in youth athletics and was a coach for Little Dribblers and Babe Ruth baseball teams. A member of the Woodmen of the World and former Hale Center City Council member, Sherril was one of the founders of the Hale Center Volunteer Ambulance Association.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and drinking coffee with the guys early in the morning.

Sherril was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard "Ricky" Rigsby, in 2019, one brother, Riley Evans Rigsby and a sister, Wendy O'Brine

Survivors include his wife, Emma Rigsby of Hale Center, son, Charlie Rigsby and wife Robin of Rusk, Texas, two daughters, Kathy Young and husband Chad of Sundown and Joanne Marie Adams and husband W.C. "Doc" of Bithlo, Florida, a daughter-in-law, Michelle Rigsby of Amarillo, a brother, Joe Rigsby and wife Gail of Murphys, California and a sister, Frances Martin of Petersburg. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
