Enrique "Henry" Perez, 73, of Olton, died Saturday, February 10, 2018, in Lubbock. Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 12, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Pena officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Henry was born July 15, 1944, in Guadalupe County, Texas, to Manuel and Evarista Perez. A lifetime Olton resident, Henry married Elfida Gonzales on January 7, 1963, in Olton. A member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Henry was very dedicated and hard-working for the church. He was the former St. Peter's Men's Group president and the coordinator of the building committee. Henry was also committed to serving his community. He was the first coordinator of the yearly Mexican Fiesta, served on the Olton Chamber of Commerce board and on the Olton Housing Authority board.
Henry was known to be able to fix anything and enjoyed tinkering on different projects. He loved being outside grilling and working in his garden. Most of all, Henry loved his family, getting them all together for family gatherings, and especially loved his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Elfida Perez of Olton, three sons, Henry Perez, Jr. and his wife Minnie of Lubbock, Edward Perez and his wife Jennifer of Iraan, and Elias Perez and his wife Teresa of Olton, and two sisters, Carla Saucedo and Antonia Zamora, both of Olton. He was blessed with seven grandchildren: A.J. Perez, Lexi Perez, Carissa Perez, Catherine Perez, Cora Perez, Elijah Perez, and Abi Perez.
