Ermelinda Cortez, 61, a lifelong resident of Olton, Texas, passed away on April 23, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas.

Ermelinda was born in Olton to Pedro Jr. and Anita (Gonzales) Cortez. A devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church, she lived her life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. Known for her loving heart, caring nature, and strong will, Ermelinda was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need.

She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her warmth, strength, and generosity touched everyone who knew her.

Ermelinda was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Crystal Magana.

She is survived by her four sons, Valentin Magana Jr. of Lincoln, Nebraska, Timothy Magana and his wife Stephanie of Plainview, Mario Cedillo and his wife Sarah of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jose Munoz of Lubbock; three daughters, Nora Valdez and her husband David of Red Oak, Corina Mandrell and her husband Michael of Shallowater, and Brianna Munoz of Lubbock; one brother, Ray Cortez of Olton; and six sisters, Leticia Gutierrez of Olton, Gloria Rosales and Esmeralda Cortez of Lubbock, Magdalena DeLaFuente of Levelland, Elvia Rodriguez of Seymour, and Maria Bengel of San Antonio. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Ramage Funeral Directors, in Olton. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church, in Olton, with Pastor Arturo DeLaCruz officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.
