Gay Nell was born October 13, 1942, in Linden, Texas, to Henry Anthony and Bertha Lorena (Newsom) Conner. She married Hollis Samuel Moree on June 16, 1961, in Springlake, and he preceded her in death in 2010. A lifelong resident of Springlake, Gay Nell worked as a teacher's aide for 32 years and drove a bus for 35 years, all for Springlake-Earth ISD. She was a devoted and faithful member of Springlake First Baptist Church.
She will be remembered for her generous heart and her love of sharing. Gay Nell was known for her delicious zucchini cakes and peanut butter rice crispies, which she gave freely to friends and neighbors. She found joy in working in her yard, especially tending to her beloved four o'clock flowers, and she cherished her cats. Above all, Gay Nell treasured time with her family, enjoyed playing games with friends, gave the very best hugs, and deeply loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hollis Moree; a daughter, Holly Ann Russell in 2021; a great-grandson, Eli Jack Roque in 2011; two brothers, A.L. Conner and Robert Conner; and two sisters, Joyce Venemin and Treva Crocker.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Lisa Price and husband Michael of Springlake, and Janie Jordan and husband Kyle of Big Lake. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Tiffany Jane Roque, Christopher Brigham, Shalace Mendoza, Seth Russell, Ethan Price, and Korbin Price; and five great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Willow, Makayla, Walker, and Elva.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Springlake Cemetery, P.O. Box 54, Springlake, Texas 79082.
