Geneva Ellen Smith, 86, of Olton, died Friday, February 25, 2022, in Plainview, Texas.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Olton Cemetery, with Evangelist Dallas Carrasco officiating and under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.

Geneva was born October 29, 1935, in Gainesville, Texas, to Richard and Ida Mae (Evans) Bosley.  A lifetime area resident, Geneva married William Melvin "Billy" Smith, Jr., on June 22, 1956, and they were married over 65 years.  Geneva worked various jobs for Olton ISD for many years. She was a teacher's assistant in the Special Education department, served as a substitute teacher, worked as the high school secretary, moved on to the bookkeeping office in administration, and finished as the Tax Assessor Collector, all for Olton ISD.  She was very civic minded and involved in many community activities over the years.  A member of Main Street Church of Christ, Geneva was a member of the Bridge Club, an avid reader, and was a talented cook.  She had a green thumb and enjoyed working with her plants.  Most of all, Geneva loved her dogs and her family, especially her grandchildren.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a son, Nicky Smith, in 2000.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Smith of Olton, son, Ricky Smith and his wife Deborah of Alto, N.M., daughter, Kelli Smith and her husband Booner of Olton, and a brother, R.C. Bosley of Springfield, VA.  She was blessed with five grandchildren: Chris Smith, Crystal Salinas and her husband Jeremy, Logan Smith, Zepplin Smith and his wife Treva, and Bonham Smith and six great-grandchildren.
