George E. Brown, Jr., 85, of Olton, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at his home near Olton. Services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 21 at the First Baptist Church in Springlake with Brother Glenn Harlin and Brother Rob Norris officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
George Elmer Brown, Jr. was born December 7, 1929, three miles west of Olton, at the family home, to George and Ruby (Boyd) Brown. On January 16, 1950, he married Mary Vititow in Plainview. Jr. and Mary moved north of Circle and he farmed until his retirement. He attended the First Baptist Church in Springlake. He was a member of the 2-Cylinder Club and a charter member of the Olton Gun Club. Restoring antique tractors was his favorite pastime. He loved woodworking, snowmobiling, and hunting, but working on engines of any sort was his specialty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jim Brown and a sister, Thetis Haddad.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Olton, two sons, Glen Brown of Olton and Mike Brown and his wife, Beverly of Lubbock, a daughter, Connie Helton and her husband, Chan of Amarillo, a sister, Helen Quigley and her husband, Dan of Olton and a sister-in-law, Reita Brown of Lubbock. He was blessed with two grandchildren, Justin Brown and Julia Loyless and one great-granddaughter, Kaylie Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 20, 2015.
