Gregoria Samarron De Leon began her legacy of faith, unconditional love and transformational service on May 25, 1939, to Juan and Lucia Samarron in Dobrowolski, located by Jourdanton, Texas. Gregoria was a sister to six brothers: Santiago Samarron, Francisco Samarron, Jose Samarron, Pedro Samarron, Ramon Samarron, Juan Samarron and one surviving sister: Irenia Samarrron Ramon of Earth Texas. Our beloved mother took the role of wife to Armando Garcia De Leon on October 5,1955, in Clovis, New Mexico, and became an amazing loving mother to 11 children: Armando De Leon, Amarillo,  San Juanita De Leon Gonzales. Earth, Angelita De Leon Castillo, Earth,  Raul De Leon, Earth,  Diana De Leon Camarena, Earth,  Daniel De Leon, Lubbock,  Yolanda De Leon Davila, Lubbock,  Armandina De Leon Rincon, Beeville, Gerardo De Leon, Tulsa,  Ruben De Leon, Lubbock,  and Israel De Leon, of Earth.

Gregoria raised and adopted two grandchildren and one great grandchild: Molly De Leon Gonzales, Plainview, Anthony De Leon, Lubbock and Micah Sanchez, Earth; furthermore, she cherished her relationship with her niece, Maria Jass, Friona and loved her as her own daughter.

Mom's legacy consisted of nurturing her children in the most committed and devoted manner. Her life and love transcended with the innate ability to never say no and by cooking tasty delicious meals that included tortillas, hot sauce, atole de aroz, menudo, carne guisada, beans and fideo, and her famous, world-class tamales. When she wasn't in the kitchen being the hospitality and tamale extraordinaire, Gregoria enjoyed her television viewing of Jimmy Swaggart ministries. She also enjoyed watching her novelas and the Price Is Right, which was her sister, Irenia's, favorite show as well. Mom and her favorite sister would not call each other until the show completed. Mom also enjoyed her phone conversations from her sister-in-law, Tia File, from Erick, Oklahoma. She also enjoyed shopping at Sam's, Goodwill, and The Food King in her yellow Mexican dress.

She continued her nurturing and mindful presence (without judgment) on loving all her 30 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren via her interactions that were a trademark of her amazing kitchen, smile and laughter.

When she was not attending to family, she made it her life's mission to serving others through her love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Gregoria's purpose and why became solely to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. Her life's mission began as a member and later an elder of Monte Sinai under the mentorship of Hermano Rudolfo Rincon, Hermano Refugio Delagarza, and Hermano Trinidad Paiz. Her decision to become a born again Christian and serve others began at Earth's City Hall in late 1973. This movement, revival and spiritual awakening in our mom's spirit to serve Jesus Christ motivated and propelled her faith to live, love and be a beacon of hope for others in a painful and broken-hearted world. Gregoria remained devoted by serving in this very church led by her very own daughter and Pastor, Angie Castillo.

When serving others, Gregoria's purpose extended to the homeless, the hungry, the sick, and the addicted- the human beings that felt unloveable. The people that our society perceives as unwanted, Gregoria took heart and action to love these human beings as children of the Most High God. Her home was a heart of love and a refuge to countless of lives hurting and needing a word of encouragement, hope, and will to live.

For those that knew the heart and soul of our mother, she was the ultimate giver. One of her final expressed wishes was to give each and every one of those she loved a white rose. This white rose signifies mom's undying true love for each and every one of you. The white rose also is a call for action for you and I to seek God's character within our spiritual journey with sympathy and compassion toward each other. It is acceptable to be uncommon and stand in the gap for those that need Christ's hope, love, and perhaps even a hot meal.

Gregoria's favorite Biblical scriptures include Joshua 1:9 and Jeremiah 33:3:

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you and even show you great and mighty things, which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish."

The family suggests memorials be made to Iglesia Del Pueblo P.O. Box 544 Earth, TX 79031.
