Guadalupe “Lupe” G. Castillo, 76, of Hale Center, died Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Plainview, Texas. Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2026, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Hale Center. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 4, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church with Fr. Alex Ambrose officiating, under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 3, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center.
Lupe was born December 12, 1949, in Mathis, Texas, to Genaro Sr. and Manuela (Martinez) Garcia. A graduate of Hale Center High School, she remained a longtime resident of Hale Center and was a devoted member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. She was active in church ministries, including the Guadalupanas, and was known for her dedication to both her faith and her community.
She married Richard Castillo in August of 1982. Lupe cherished time spent with her family and will be remembered for her steady presence and the care she gave to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Castillo; her granddaughter, Isabelle Grace Rocha; her sister, Georgia Castillo; two brothers-in-law, Robert Castillo and Robert Hinojosa, Jr.; a nephew, Rocky Castillo; and her first husband, Benito Rocha, Jr.
Survivors include her son, Michael Castillo and partner Cindy Deanda of Lubbock; three daughters, Sara Henderson and husband John White of Plainview, Staci Castillo and wife Katie Castillo-Ferrell of Richmond, Virginia, and Erin Castillo of Plainview; three brothers, Genaro Garcia, Jr. of Hale Center, Johnny Joe Garcia and wife Irma of Lubbock, and Ricky Garcia and wife Josie of Arkansas; and three sisters, Gloria Calderon and husband Frank and Linda Hinojosa, both of the Dallas–Fort Worth area, and Christine Reyna and husband Cruz of Hale Center. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Megyn, Jake, Adam, Sadie, and Sloan, one great-grandson, Grayson and numerous nieces and nephews.
