Obituary

Harlon "Fuzzy" Watson, 77, of Springlake, peacefully went to his Heavenly home, Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in Lubbock. Services will be 2:30 P.M., Thursday, October 25, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Springlake with Brother Glenn Harlin and Mr. Robert Gunn officiating. Interment will follow at Springlake Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Harlon was born August 18, 1935 in Cottle County, Texas to Leslie Glenn and Eleanor Irene Harris Watson. He moved to Lamb County in 1939 and graduated from Springlake High School in 1953. On June 13, 1953, he married the love of his life, Frances Kellar. He was a cattleman, farmer, and member of First Baptist Church. In 1967, he moved into the Springlake city limits where he served as mayor for many years. Harlon was a member of the Springlake Lions Club and served as fire chief for the Springlake Fire Department for many years. He served on the school board and the Springlake Coop Gin board. Fuzzy loved playing sports, especially football and baseball. He never missed an Earth rodeo and was constantly looking for ways to serve his community. He genuinely loved working with young people and was always there to listen and give advice to help someone learn.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ray Watson, in 1966.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Watson of Springlake, two sons, Monty Glenn Watson of Springlake and Marty Ray Watson of Austin, and two aunts, Beatrice McClure of Lubbock and Faye Holt of Rescue, CA.
