Harold Duane Eby, Sr., 84, of Lubbock and formerly of Olton, died Sunday, October 16, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Olton, with Brother David Azam officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday,  October 19, 2022, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.

Harold was born December 6, 1937, at home on the farm, south of Olton, to Duane Charles and Joyce (Johnson) Eby.  He graduated from Olton High School in 1956.  Harold was inducted into the United States Army in 1960. He was sent to Fort Hood for six months of basic training and then 18 months in Germany during the Crisis.  On June 20, 1964, Harold married the love of his life, Betty Mays and they were married over 42 years.  They settled in Olton in 1972 with their three children.

Harold became manager at Leon's Grocery in Olton and worked there near 30 years.  Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church and VFW Post #4779. People will always remember his friendly smile and laugh.  He was the most accepting, kind-hearted, and welcoming person.  God was first in his life, family was second and his friends were considered family as well.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty Eby, in 2006, and a son, Duane Eby, Jr.

Survivors include his son, Barry Eby of Lubbock, his daughter, D'Ann Anderson of Modesto, CA, and a sister, Leah Muller of Belton.  He was blessed with eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
