Obituary
Hester Mae Burns Bodkin, 93, of Olton, Texas, quietly passed
October 13, 2012. Graveside services will be at Olton Cemetery, Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Dr. Steve Doles, Senior Pastor, Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Lubbock, Texas, officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Hester Mae was born April 4, 1919, in Tahoka, Texas, to
Mark W. and Alfie Burns. She graduated Olton High School
and attended Wayland College before she and Wilton R.
Bodkin were married July 25, 1937.
Mrs. Bodkin was active in her children's school activities,
awarded lifetime membership in the Texas Parent Teacher
Association, and was a charter member of the Olton New
Century Study Club. She was a member of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church for eighty years and served as church
secretary-treasurer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, an
infant daughter, her sister, Ethel Sutton and older brother,
Roy Burns.
She is survived by four sons: Wayne and his wife, Pat
of Weatherford, Royce and his wife, Pat of Royse City, Mike and his wife, Barbara of Houston and Patrick of Olton: three
granddaughters, two grandsons and four great grandsons.
Memorials may be made to The Building Fund, Cumberland
Presbyterian Church, 7702 Indiana Avenue Lubbock, TX 79423, or the Olton Cemetery Association P.O. Box 1055 Olton, TX 79064.
