James Alfred Allen, 80, of Olton, passed away Wednesday July 27, 2011 in Lubbock. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 1, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Brother David Azam officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Mr. Allen was born September 14, 1930 in Paducah, Texas to James Wallace and Elsie Lee Allen. Alfred married Gladys Katherine Hasha on December 31, 1949 in Paducah, Texas. They moved to Olton in 1955, and Albert began farming in the Olton area. He loved farming, and retired just two years ago. He also enjoyed working in his yard and reading. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved to watch baseball. Alfred was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olton.
He is survived by his son, Bruce Allen and wife Stacy of Olton; two grandsons, Chris Allen of Olton and Bradley Allen of McGregor, Texas; three step-grandchildren, Timothy Alan DeJaynes of Brandon, Florida, Kasie Lyn DeJaynes and Justin Edward DeJaynes both of Centrailia, Illinois; and two sisters, Freddy Russell of Paducah and Delia Goodgame of Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Allen on February 9, 2006; and his parents.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Sunday July 31, 2011 at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to the Runningwater Draw Care Center P.O. Box 409 Olton, TX 79064.
