James Thomas Cooper, 75, of Olton and formerly of Childress, died Monday, August 4, 2014, in Lubbock. Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 8, 2014 at Main Street Church of Christ with Mr. Brad Wangerin officiating. Interment will follow at Springlake Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
James was born December 16, 1938 to Herman and Nova (Kerrick) Cooper in Lamb County. He was baptized into Christ in 1954 and he worked as a manager for the TDCJ in Childress for 21 years. James was an avid reader and had exceptional skills in math and analytical thinking. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Herman "Bud" Cooper, and a niece, Kym Cooper Phillips.
Survivors include four daughters, Jamie Cooper Niswander and her husband, Jeff of Houston, Sally Cooper of Houston, Nova Cooper Brzozowski and her husband, William Joseph of Houston, and Sharon Cooper Cocco of Houston, two sisters, Irma and Janet Cooper of Olton, an uncle, Louie Kerrick of Brownfield, two nephews, Kerry Cooper of Mesa, AZ and Kyle Cooper of San Antonio and a sister-in-law, Norma Cooper. He was blessed with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, August 7, 2014.
