Janie M. Cantu Garcia, 58, of Olton, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, in Olton. Services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Rev. Valentine Martinez officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Janie was born April 13, 1953 in Marlin, Texas to the late Ceferino and Maria Soto Medrano. She moved to Olton in 1993 from Hereford. On December 29, 1996, she married David Garcia. Janie was very involved with prison ministry and loved being a seamstress. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Cantu, Jr. in 2005, and a brother, Jesse Medrano, Sr. in 1997.

Survivors include her husband, David Garcia of Olton, a daughter, Noemi Bueno of Olton, two brothers, Thomas Medrano of Ropesville, and Frank Medrano of Dimmitt, and four sisters, Betty Montiel of Hart, Lupe Gonzalez of Amarillo, Rena Lumbrera of Dimmitt, and Tomasa Nino of Clarendon. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Jamar Acobator, Jr.
