Jean Green, 76, of Olton, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009, in Lubbock. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 11, at Main Street Church of Christ with Mr. Mike Reed and Mr. Trey Shirley officiating. Interment will follow in Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Jean was born November 3, 1932, in Mansfield, Arkansas to V.F. and Ola Mae Wilcox. She married Willie Gene Green April 30, 1951, in Kress. She was a member of Main Street Church of Christ in Olton where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. Jean was a very talented artist and was a member of the Plains Art Association, the Lubbock Art Association, and the Plainview Art Guild. She was one of the original partners in the Wild Plum Bed and Breakfast for ten years. She was Olton's Woman of the Year in 1988, and an active supporter of the Sandcrawl Museum and the Olton Library. In her spare time, Jean enjoyed playing Bunko and was a member of three different Bunko groups.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Gene, in 2008, her sister, Wanda, and a brother, V.R.
She is survived by her son, Nick Green and his wife, Rhonda of Olton, her daughter, Tammy Green Shirley and her husband, John of Snyder, her brother, Roger Wilcox and his wife, Betty of Amarillo, eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to any favorite charity in Olton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M Tuesday, March 10, 2009.
