Jesus Magallanes, 91, of Olton, died Thursday, February 8, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2024, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Fr. Alex Ambrose officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday, February 12, at Ramage Funeral Directors.
Jesus was born November 8, 1932, in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Antonio and Genoveva (Jimenez) Magallanes. On September 24, 1960, he married the love of his life, Arcelia Chacon. Living in Olton for 58 years, Jesus was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He was a farmer for over 33 years in the Olton area. Being outdoors, working on the farm, and tending his garden are things Jesus enjoyed most. In his earlier years, Jesus loved playing baseball and was a talented pitcher. He enjoyed fishing and was a Eucharist Minister for the church. Most of all, Jesus was a wonderful father who taught his children the meaning of hard work, responsibility, and respectfulness.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arcelia Magallanes, a son, Rene Magallanes, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include three sons, Jesus Magallanes, Jr. of El Paso, Erasmo Magallanes and wife Belinda of Levelland, and Eddie Magallanes and wife Susan of Olton, four daughters, Elizabeth Garza and husband Freddie of Shallowater, Gracie Montalvo of Lubbock, Arcelia Cervantez and husband Paul of Lubbock, and Marina Ruiz and husband Robert of San Antonio, one brother, Hector Magallanes of Delicias, Chihuahua, and a sister, Alicia Campos of Delicias, Chihuahua. He was blessed with 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
