Jimmie Ray Lawson, 76, of Olton TX, joined The Lord in Heaven, Monday, July 27, 2020. He was surrounded by the precious nurses of the Olton Running Water Draw Care Center. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Olton Cemetery, with Bro. David Azam and Mr. Jeremy Sims officiating and under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. Viewing will be held from 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 29, 2020, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.
Jimmie, also known as Jim, Jimbo, Hon (short for honey), Dad, Dada, and uncle Jim, was born on January 4, 1944, in Amherst, TX, to Marie (Ree) and Drexel (Drex) Lawson. Jim graduated from Olton High School in 1962. He then graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Agronomy in 1969 and began teaching high school in Prosper, TX from 1969-1970. He returned to Olton in 1970 and bought his first piece of land and began farming with his dad. He married the love of his life, Cynthia (Elkins), on November 25, 1972 and he resided in Olton, TX until 2017 when he became a resident of Running Water Draw Care Center due to his progressing Dementia.
Jim loved farming and ranching with his family and he loved Olton. He was a devout Christian and faithfully attended the First Baptist Church of Olton. His family and friends say that words can't express how kind, gentle, patient, generous, and loving he was.
He is preceded in death by his parents (Marie and Drex Lawson), brother (Gary Lawson), mother-in-law (Patricia Elkins), nephew (Christopher Lawson), great-nephew (Blake Lawson), and niece (Kelcey Elkins).
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife; Cynthia Lawson of Olton, and two daughters; Natalie Sims and husband Jeremy and their three children; Ashleigh and Payton Cooper, Mitchell, and Mackenzie Sims and Whitney Paschall and husband Dwayne and their two daughters; Abby and Molly Paschall, a sister, Caroline Little and husband Jon, five nieces and three nephews.
The family has requested memorials be made to Running Water Draw Care Center P.O. Box 409 Olton, TX 79064.
