Obituary

Jimmy "Jay" Wilson, Jr., 47, of Earth, died Wednesday, November  18, 2020, in Lubbock.

Jimmy "Jay" Dale Wilson, Jr. was born June 16, 1973, in Randall County, Texas, to Jimmy Dale Wilson, Sr. and Bobby Jo Brant Wilson.  On July 3, 2004, Jimmy married the love of his life, Colleen Ribble, in Walland, TN.  They met in Waco, Texas, and lived in several places in the Panhandle before settling down in Earth, Texas, for the last 10 years.  He enjoyed spending time in various coffee shops with his wife.  He was very proud of his daughter and enjoyed watching her play volleyball, basketball and the marching band at school.

As a lifelong educator and coach, Jimmy enjoyed a great rapport with young people, instilling the values of being an active citizen, serving the Lord, and perseverance in the face of hardship.  He made a difference in the lives of many young athletes on and off the field of play.  When he stepped down from coaching, he found a love of broadcasting local sporting events where his witty comments and knowledge of the sports were enjoyed by many members of the community.

Jimmy had the heart of a worshipper.  He loved his church where he was a member of the leadership and worship team.  He played bass and his passion for worship could be felt by his church family.  He wanted everyone to feel the presence of God during this time.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Jo Brant, his paternal grandparents, Joedy and Sue Wilson, and his maternal grandmother, Thelma Jo Brant.

Those left to cherish Jimmy's memory include his wife, Colleen Wilson of Earth, his daughter, Katy Wilson of Earth, his father, Jimmy D. Wilson, Sr. and his wife Revelie of Oklahoma, his grandfather, Bobby Brant of Amarillo, and a sister, Christie Wilson of Amarillo.

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.  No services are scheduled at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jimmy's church; River of Hope at riverofhope.church or P.O. Box 531 Muleshoe, TX 79347.
