Joe L. Abeyta, Sr., 73, of Littlefield, died Wednesday, November 11, 2020, in Lubbock.  Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2020, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2020, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton with Fr. Jacob Powell officiating.  Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Littlefield under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, at Ramage Funeral Directors.

Joe Louis Abeyta, Sr. was born February 5, 1947, in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, to Casimiro and Isabel (Ocana) Abeyta.  A lifetime resident of Littlefield, Joe was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He married Alice Rendon in 1975.  Joe worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 12 years, American Cotton Growers for over 10 years and as maintenance director at Alco for 12 years.  A talented boxer, Joe was a golden glove champion boxer in his younger years.  He enjoyed sports and hunting.  Joe also loved animals and was a talented singer.  Family was especially important to Joe and he will be dearly missed.

Joe is survived by his wife, Alice Abeyta of Littlefield, three sons, Joe Abeyta, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Olton, Moses Abeyta of Littlefield, and Elijah Abeyta of Littlefield, one brother, George Abeyta Sr. of Littlefield, and a sister, Dolores Abeyta of Littlefield.  He was blessed with seven grandchildren.
