Joe D. Chester, 91, of Olton, died Friday, January 2, 2015, in Amarillo. Interment will take place at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Earth Memorial Cemetery in Earth. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Olton with Pastor Charlie Johnson, Pastor Tom Carter, and Mr. Valentine Martinez officiating and under direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Joe Delmar Chester was born April 29, 1923, in Weaver, Texas to Clifford and Carra (Brewer) Chester. On December 20, 1940, he married Mattie Jo "JoJo" Morris in Idalou. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1955, he moved to Olton from Earth and was a Methodist. Joe served on the Olton Volunteer Fire Department and was the city fire marshal. He owned and operated Chester's Electronics from 1977 to 1997 in Olton. Working with anything electronic, playing the guitar, playing dominoes, and photography were some of Joe's favorite pastimes. In September of 2014, Joe participated in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, JoJo Chester in 2004, two brothers, two sisters, and a granddaughter.

Survivors include his special friend, Ruth Holly of Olton, three daughters, Judith Jones and her husband, Dean of Earth, Jann Gover and her husband, Bill of Olton, and Jeana Ferguson and her husband, Jim of Amarillo, and a brother, Randall Chester of Brashear, TX. He was blessed with ten grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
