John Clifton Adams, 85, of Olton, died Friday, February 25, 2011 in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 2:30 P.M., Monday, February 28, 2011 at Olton Cemetery with Mr. Jimmy Lively officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

John Clifton Adams was born March 18, 1925 in Alba, Texas to Henry and Mamie Payne Adams. He married Ina Mae Matlock, April 23, 1949 in Sunnyside, Washington. He moved to Olton in 1960 and managed the Circle Gin for twenty-five years. He was the original American picker. He enjoyed collecting antiques and other items of unique interests. He also loved horse racing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Mae Adams in 1995, a daughter, Sherry Lively in 2006, a grand-daughter, Shawnda Adams in 1975, and four brothers.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Adams and his wife, Teresa of Olton, two brothers, Junior Adams of Lubbock and Quincey Adams of Lubbock, a sister, Ruth Stueart of Levelland, and three grandchildren, Keeley Adams and his wife, Kelli of Olton, Brocke Lively and his wife, Lela of Olton, and Rhett Lively and his wife, Bailey of Midland. He was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Kimbal, Stephenie, Damon, Courtney, Robert, and Alexis.
