Obituary

John Finley Montgomery, 94, of Olton, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012. Services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 14, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Olton with Richard Edwards and Larry Holder officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

John was born February 7, 1918 in Lone Wolf, OK to James and Fannie Holland Montgomery. He served as Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy from 1940 to 1946. Moving to Olton in 1953, John farmed until retiring in 1979. He worked at Thompson Implement from 1980 to 1998 when it became Ray Lee Equipment and officially retired in 2005. He loved to travel and his trips included Israel and China. John was a member of the Olton Bowling League and a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. At the church, John served as an usher and member of the Advance Sunday School Class for over fifty years.

John is survived by a nephew, and many friends.
