Johnny was born May 8, 1954, in Olton, Texas, to Cliff and Ina Mae (Matlock) Adams.  A lifetime Olton resident, Johnny married the love of his life, Teresa Griffith, on February 22, 1974, in Halfway, Texas, and they were married over 48 years.  Johnny was a longtime ginner and worked at Circle Gin and the Halfway Gin. In 1990, Johnny opened and operated Adams Texaco, in Olton, until his retirement in 2008.

A very civic-minded person, Johnny served the Olton community in many various ways.  In his younger years, Johnny coached and volunteered in all of his son's activities including Olton Youth Baseball and Little Dribbler basketball. He was known to play softball and pitch horseshoes and was the founder of the Olton horseshoe league, the Double Up Club. He was an ambulance driver for the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association for five years and served on the Olton Chamber of Commerce board of directors.  Serving on the Olton City Council for many years, Johnny was also the mayor of Olton for eight years.  Most of all, Johnny loved his family and spending time and watching his grandchildren participate in all their activities.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Shawnda Adams, in 1975, and a sister, Sherry Lively.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Adams of Olton, his son, Keeley Adams and his wife Kelli of Olton, and two grandchildren, Kiersten Adams of Amarillo and Kimbal Adams of Lubbock.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Runningwater Draw Care Center PO Box 409 Olton, Texas 79064 or the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association PO Box 1087 Olton, Texas 79064.
