Johnny Casarez, born June 19, 1950, in Carnes City, Texas, passed away on April 4, 2026, in Plainview, Texas. A beloved father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Johnny's life was marked by a jovial spirit and an enduring love for music, conversation, and community.

Raised in O'Donnell, Texas, Johnny embraced the open road as his lifelong friend, dedicating over 20 years to truck driving and logging more than one million miles behind the wheel. His journey through life was as rich and varied as the songs he sang as a mariachi vocalist. Johnny’s joy for singing and dancing brought warmth and happiness to many who knew him.

In 2023, Johnny made Olton, Texas his home, relocating from Beeville. A devoted Catholic, he found comfort in faith, cherished moments spent fishing, and enjoyed watching classic western films. Ever fond of the simple pleasures, he had a fondness for cigarettes and Coca-Cola, and possessed a remarkable gift of gab that made every conversation memorable.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Petra Casarez, three brothers, and two sisters, whose memories he kept close throughout his life.

Johnny is survived by his two sons, Juan Antonio Casarez and wife Maile of Garland, and Alejandro Casarez and wife Valerie Litwinick of Amarillo. His daughter, Cathy Casarez Garrido, and husband Tony of Olton also carry forward his loving legacy. He is remembered by his brother, Roy Casarez of Poteet, and sister, Elida Pena of Beeville. Johnny was truly blessed with seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren who will continue to hold his memory dear.
